GHRP-2 and CJC 1295

GHRP-2 is a synthetic agonist of ghrelin, the newly-discovered gut peptide which binds to the growth hormone (GH) secretagogue receptor. Furthermore, Growth hormone releasing (GHRP) peptides are several unnatural vitamin D amino acids that stimulate growth hormone releasing activity. They begin the secreting activity of many growth hormones in the body from the pituitary gland in the brain. Ghrelin has two major effects, stimulating both GH secretion and appetite/meal initiation. GHRP-2 has been extensively studied for its utility as a growth hormone secretagogue (GHS).

Animal studies have shown its effect on food intake. However, whether GHRP-2 can also stimulate appetite in humans when administered acutely is not known. The study group subcutaneously infused 7 lean, healthy males with GHRP-2 (1 μg/kg/h) or saline for 270 minutes and then measured their intake of an ad libitum, buffet-style meal. Similar to what has been reported for ghrelin administration, the subjects ate 35.9 ± 10.9% more when infused with GHRP-2 vs. saline, with every subject increasing their intake even when calculated per kg body weight (136.0 ± 13.0 kJ/kg [32.5 ± 3.1 kcal/kg] vs. 101.3 ± 10.5 kJ/kg [24.2 ± 2.5 kcal/kg], p = 0.008). Therefore, GHRP-2 is a growth hormone releaser that does not affect appetite or induce a hunger effect. It is a single chain of six amino acids that can stimulate release of ghrelin or can replace low levels of growth hormone in the body. It is a hormone that can help with fighting anti-aging problems.

CJC 1295 can be compounded in two forms (DAC and non-DAC). CJC 1295, also called GRF 1-29,  is a 29-amino acid peptide hormone, primarily functioning as a GHRH analog. CJC 1295 has shown promising results as a GHRH analog. Research supports that CJC 1295 stimulates GH secretion, and can lead to a more youthful and amplified release of GH and IGF-1 with minimal effect on cortisol and prolactin levels. Another benefit of CJC 1295 is its ability to promote slow wave sleep. Slow wave sleep is also known as deep sleep and is the portion of sleep responsible for the highest level of muscle growth and memory retention. SWS decreases significantly in older adults and also with people who tend to exercise later in the evening.

CJC 1295 should be taken at the same time with another growth hormone peptide. It was generally called blend peptide GHRP-2 and CJC 1295. Clinical studies have shown that a once-daily administration of CJC 1295 normalizes the GHRH response and can induce significantly deeper sleep. Drug affinity complex (DAC) prevents enzymatic degradation thus increasing the half-life. Consequently CJC 1295-DAC can be dosed as a single weekly injection. Administration of CJC 1295-DAC provides a GHRH-like stimulation around the clock. According to the research in Lab, a potential drawback when using a weekly protocol can be attributed to ineffective GHRH stimulation when the body is due for a GH spike (usually 1:00am). This is referred to as a GH-bleed and the overall result is inferior to using CJC 1295-NON-DAC daily for 5 days out of 7. Therefore using CJC 1295-NON-DAC daily (between 6-8pm) provides a more effective GH spike at 1:00am.
